Today we will engage in a conversation covering technology,
how to utilise scientific knowledge, for conflict resolution, peace building
and encouraging sustainable positive peace initiatives through media.
Deployment of technology as a competent tool is our purpose of discussion. Understanding consequences, outcomes and repercussions with respect to wide and deep practises.
First of all, it is given a compelling term, simply called
Artificial Intelligence. Having a second glimpse to these breath-taking words
it may reveal its true identity.
Starts with letters ART. Wow isn’t that something. Science
& Arts hand in hand, its mathematics, algorithms, literature, and fine arts
defining and composing a harmonious symphony for humanity. AI is learning
keenly and swiftly. Its Generating crisp blends of guidance. Will it be a unique
appliance to inspire peace building as an art/science? Combination. Well we
will try to indulge in a broader view of technology including AI, Social Media
and main stream Media.
Let me introduce captivating & benevolent panellists,
who have travelled near and far to have a lively conversation at today’s panel.
They brought with them stories to be told and remembered, experiences relived
and knowledge to be shared. There would not be a desire to reconstruct any
thoughts. Rather to shed a light on matters, those of which may lie beyond our
current perceptions. They are here with goodness and kind-heartedness. I am
sure together we will enjoy the discussion in connection with Technology, Media
& Peace Building. Hopefully we will be able to raise further questions than
striving to discover answers.
Thank you so much to our fabulous speakers. With their
insights and intuition we are more hopeful for building bridges for sustainable
peace in the world. We all desire to live in harmony, love, care and showing
tenderness to each other.
Today we have witnessed how people, communities may have got
caught in a rut, unable to steer out of tracks, destined to continue on a
journey towards an unpredictable future.
Like an autonomous vehicle, driver of which is unknown.
Tracks may even be grooved on to a steel bar.
Can this only be played out by observing without the
preconditions of our past?
We are observing, through our thoughts that are engraved
into our minds since childhood. Like fog or mist blurring our vision. Can this
generated and reflected illusion of images be wiped away by technology?
Would it be possible to gaze in silence to peace, without the
restriction of bunch of words and feel the awareness of reality?
Thus I wonder whether technology with huge funds and
investments that it consumes. Be able to teach us how to avoid loneliness,
isolation and borderless living in a connected society. Without worrying about any
cyber anxiety or misinformation.
Where differences would not evolve into irresolvable conflicts
and disagreements.
Should we assume technology can facilitate an environment to
lead us to comfort, understanding diversity and dedication to trust and truce?
Well I guess we have to wait and see. In the delicate hands
of systems architects, technology will continue to serve positively for humanity.
Thank you so much for paying utmost attention. I have
observed in your bright eyes hope and willingness to contribute to peace
wherever, whenever it is possible.
Thank you once again to dearest panellist for an outstanding
contribution.
Thank you President Stephanie Urchick to have initiated this
conference, Thank you Bahçeşehir University for the establishment of peace
center and thank you to all committees who have spent endless hours to create
wonders to make this conference a success.
Let me conclude with the famous precept from Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk.
Peace at home peace in the world.
Please take care, enjoy the rest of the conference
God bless you, thank you have a great day.
